The chart you were
born under.

Korean saju reads a life from the moment it began. This builds yours from a real almanac, corrects it to true solar time, and explains it in plain English — with the five elements drawn rather than spelled in characters you cannot read.

Saju takes the direction of its ten-year cycles from a binary, and there is no way to compute them without one. It is used for nothing else on this site. Skip it and every reading still works apart from the decade timeline.

Calculated in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere.

It reads the calendar, not the stars

Saju is the East Asian reading of a birth moment, in continuous practical use for about two thousand years. It is not astrology as Europe built it. Nothing in it depends on where the planets were — it reads the traditional almanac, which is to say the particular day you were born on and the particular hour.

That birth moment gives four pillars: the year, the month, the day and the hour. Each carries two characters, which is where the older name for it — eight characters — comes from. The animal you already know is one of those eight. It is the year, and it is the least personal of them, which is exactly why everyone born in the same twelve months shares it.

The one that stands for you is the upper character of the day. Everything else in a chart is read against it, and it is the reason two people born the same year are not read the same way.

In Korea this is not decoration. It is still what people use to choose the day to open a business, to check a match before a wedding, and to name a child.

  • What it carries

Temperament, the shape of a working life, when a decade turns, and who fits.

  • What it does not

Events. A chart holds tendencies, ages and tensions — never an accident, an illness or a wedding.

Everyone is one of ten

One character in your chart stands for you rather than your circumstances, and the whole reading is built around it. Yours is drawn.
